Welcome back! I say that because portions of this site, and other sites of mine, have been down for about three days! All because of the incompetent handling of a systems upgrade/server migration done to some servers at iPower Web.

I’ve been with iPower for a long time and can honestly say I have never had it this bad before but this was totally unacceptable. The first day I noticed the problem I gave them the benefit of the doubt to let them get it fixed. The next day I am told “24 more hours please”, and still another 24 hours passes on top of that.

None of my sites that were affected were ecommerce site so I wasn’t losing my shirt over those three days. But I imagine that there were some ecom. sites that were down. How can a hosting company like iPower believe that it is acceptable to be down that long?! There is no excuse for this foul up except for lack of planning/testing/double testing.

During this period all of my databases were unaccessible and even scarier was when I logged in to what I thought was my DB admin - it was someone else’s database! I had what looked like full access to someone’s shopping cart DB - complete with order information and customer data. I don’t know for certain if this was someone’s data but if it was they should be angry as hell. I’m an honest person and would not think of doing any harm with that access but who had access to my data? Thankfully it seems that if someone did they too were kind enough to not cause me any grief.

iPower Web just lost a lot of confidence from me and I can only say to someone considering them now to be wary - and make frequent back-ups. And iPower - start handing out some customer satisfaction because at the moment - I am very, very unsatisfied.
